S.P.I.R.E. stands for Specialized Program Individualizing Reading Excellence. It has 10-steps, is a soft-scripted, structured, systematic, sequential, and cumulative approach to learning phonological awareness. It was created forty – years ago by Orton-Gillingham
fellow Sheila Clark-Edmands, a Speech Pathologist, who created the levels to coincide with the child’s speech development patterns. Available in Print, Digital, and Hybrid formats and nine levels. Research shows that students gain 1.5 – 2 year-gains in one year!
